Life is What Happens - Martini Card

I've been really into Tim Holtz products these last few weeks, so you'll see many more projects featuring his line.  Here's a card that I made with the Stampers anonymous Stuff to Say CMS110 stamp sentiments.  I absolutely LOVE those olive eyelets that eyelet outlet sells...sooooo neat!

This card is being entered in Twisted Tuesday Challenge. The challenge is cooling off, and the twist is inked edges.  Well...nothing says cooling off than a nice cold martini with olives - right?

All White Party

I recently hosted an all white party at my house.  The guest of honor had no idea about the party, and was consequently shocked by this surprise!  Here are a few photos of the decorations that I worked on this week.

The tissue paper balls were created by placing 8 sheets of tissue paper on top of each other. Then folding them accordion style, tying the middle with wire, rounding the corners, and then peeling back each layer.

I made the banner using my Cameo Silhouette and a .99 cent banner set cut file.

The paper lanterns were made with my Martha Stewart lantern cutting tool.  That tool makes it easy to produce lanterns really fast. I stapled the ends and added the butterflies.

The butterflies were images that I traced with the Silhouette Design America software. Then I cut them out and placed them on each lantern with a glue dot.

I welded the numbers 4 and 0 to make 40 and threaded them with gray ribbon to make the banner.

I spent most of my afternoons this week gearing up for this party. In the end, seeing the expression on the birthday girl's face was priceless.

Altered Composition Book - Prayer Journal

This is the first prayer journal that I've made and I'm thrilled with how it turned out.  It took me all day since I was learning the techniques as I went, had to visit Joanns and Hobby Lobby to get supplies, plus I had laundry to do, bathrooms to clean, and kids to feed.  I think I must have watched 2 hours of videos trying to figure out everything I need to know.  But now that I know how....the next one will be a breeze.

Supplies:

  • 12 x 12 paper
  • Tissue Paper
  • Old Dictionary
  • Chip board letters
  • Mod Podge
  • Glimmer Mist
  • Going Places Cricut cartridge for the arrows
  • Art Philosophy for the tag
  • Tim Holtz stamps, Ornate Plate, Foliage,
  • Ranger Rock Candy
  • Distressed Stickles
  • Dollar Spot alphabet stamps
  • Memento brown ink
  • Bakers Twine
Simple Steps
  1. Adhere the base card stock using tape
  2. Create hand made embellishments (I used rock candy on the tag) and alter the tissue paper
  3. Mod Podge embellishments and tissue to the base cardstock
  4. Cover entire surface with Mod Podge
  5. Punch holes for the button
  6. Use wire to secure the button and secure the wire on the inside of the notebook
  7. Add Distressed Stickles
It's an easy project, but very time consuming.  I think if I made the embellishments in advance - the assembly would have gone faster.

I love this journal!  I even put my name on it so I won't be tempted to give it away - bwahahahahaha!

DIY: Craft Mat on the Cheap

Well I've been writing this blog for well over a year now and I think it's time to add some video tutorials.  I really like that craft mat that Tim Holtz uses in his videos so I thought I'd try my hand at creating one. This alternative is great for stamping and inking. However, it's not heat resistant like Tim's mat.  Oh well, mine cost me about a quarter :)  I hope it inspires you to create you own craft mat!
Click the picture below to view the do-it-yourself tutorial on how to make a craft mat on the cheap. Freezer paper, scissors, cardboard, and tape are the supplies you need.

Here's the Tim Holtz version:

Zombie Birthday Card - Live it up!

Zombies are all the rage these days, so when I saw this images set on the Lettering Delights website, I had to have it!  I used my cameo to print and cut the image, then added the black shadow affect with cardstock. Black bling and pearl stickles and inked edging are the final touches.

Lexicon of Love Cherish Wedding Card

I made this card for my cousin who was married last month. I used Stampin up Lexicon of Love Stamp set. It was really easy to make. I got the embossed paper from Joanns on super duper clearance, so it was a mattter of cutting it down to size, taping it to a black card, cutting out a couple of squares, stamping, adding ribbon, bling, and some $$ and we're all done!

I'm Nuts a Bolt You - Birthday Card

This Knight card was made with my Silhouette Cameo . He is cut at 3.5" and I blinged his shield with stickles. The screw eyelets really help bring home the theme.
I made this card for my hubby's birthday this month.  Happy Birthday Sweetheart!
